Lydia Ko In Recovery After Singapore Tour

May 3, 2021 by

Kiwi golfer Lydia Ko is now four shots away from the lead after she completed an exceptionally strong round in Singapore in the LPGA Tour’s HSBC Women’s World Championship.

Ko’s stellar performance included a 4-under-68 shot after Thursday’s round saw her do a polished performance at 69. After getting off to a brilliant start with birdies grabbed on the first, third, and fifth holes, she then proceeded to shoot par on all six the next holes.

The New Zealander is now in a group tied for seventh spot, and only four shots behind current joint leaders Inbee Park and Hee Young Park, both from Korea.

Ko last weekend had a disappointing run at the Los Angeles Open in California when she failed to make the cut. Undoubtedly adding to that disappointment would have been the bitter-sweet fact that she had only just come off her first tournament win in three years when she won the LOTTE Championship in Hawaii the week before LA.

Impressing had been former Women’s PGA champion golfer Hannah Green of Australia. Following her 66, Green now has 14 consecutive rounds under par to boast of. She shot 71 on Tuesday, becoming one of only a trio of players who shot in the 60s for all four rounds in LA last week.

Singapore saw only a very limited number of spectators attend the action this week, what with the country implementing strict quarantine measures and safeguards.

The tour moves ahead to Bangkok next week for the Thailand leg of the Honda LPGA.
