Hua Hin Next in November WTA Bounty

November is a great month for Kiwi sports betting punters with a penchant for women’s tennis, with non-stop WTA action across Asia and into the Pacific. The WTA Elite Trophy ended on Sunday in Zhuhai, China, with Germany’s Julia Goerges holding firm against strong opposition from second seed Coco Vandeweghe to take the women’s singles title: 7-5, 6-1.

On Monday the action moved to Thailand for the second WTA EA Hua Hin Championship, part of the WTA 125K Series, so called after the $125,000 prize money at each event. At the first, held in 2015, the women’s singles crown went to Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan. She’s out with an injury this year, leaving the title undefended.

Top seed for the 2017 women’s singles is China’s Wang Qiang, with countrywoman Duan Yingying seeded third. Russia’s Evgeniya Rodina is seeded second, and Chinese Taipei’s Hsieh Su-wei fourth. Fifth, sixth, seventh and eight seeds, respectively, are Belgium’s Yanina Wickmayer, Romania’s Ana Bogdan, Japan’s Misaki Doi and the UK’s Naomi Broady.

OEC Taipei WTA Challenger Starts 13 November

The Hua Hin finals are followed the very next day in Taiwan by the next WTA 125K Series event: the OEC Taipei WTA Challenger, aka the Taipei Open. Rodina is the defending champion, but Anya Sabalenka of Belarus is likely to relegate her to second seed. Wang is not on the roster, but Duan is once again third seed, followed by Japan’s Kurumi Nara and China’s Zhu Lin. Wickmayer is sixth, followed by Japan’s Risa Ozaki, with Bogdan seeded eighth.

Hawaii and Mumbai Opens Complete November Schedule

As the Taipei tournament finishes on 19 November, the Hawaii Open takes over the WTA 125K Series baton. Only the second edition of this new tournament on the WTA Tour, it has yet to release a final players list.

However, both last year’s final opponents, the USA’s CiCi Bellis and China’s Zhang Shuai, are scheduled to return, although runner-up Zhang will most likely be the top seed this time. Rodina and Hsieh could also feature, along with Italy’s Francesca Schiavone.

The final WTA 125K event of the month is the Mumbai Open on 20 November, resurrected for the first time since 2012. Details of the players’ roster will be available later in the month, but several top seeds may have to choose between Hawaii and India.
