Sheffield Shield Round 3 Coming Up
Kiwi punters can expect some great cricket in Round 3 of the 2017 Sheffield Shield, running from Monday 13 November to Thursday 16 November. The domestic first-class series isn’t just a matter of state pride this year; the stars are all putting their hands up to play for the Baggy Greens in the Ashes.
Victoria play Tasmania at the MCG, and it looks like the Bushrangers will need the home-ground boost. Tasmania is bottom of the ladder after losing to Western Australia and Queensland, but Victoria are only ahead of them by virtue of a draw against South Australia last week. They also lost in Round 1, going down by 110 runs to Queensland.
Queensland v NSW Should Be a Corker
The big match in Round 3 will be he much anticipated clash between New South Wales and Queensland. The Bulls are hosting at Brisbane’s Allan Border Field, bit no matter how much support the fans give them, it’s the batsmen who have to go out there and face Mitchell Starc alone.
The Blues’ pacemen has had a blistering start to his Sheffield Shiel, racking up his best first-class bowling performance in Adelaide against the Redbacks in Round 1, then taking a record-breaking double hat-trick at Hurstville Oval against Western Australia last week.
Starc is a large part of the reason the Blues are topping the ladder, but the Bulls are unbeaten so far too. They followed their Round 1 win against the Bushrangers with a Round 2 victory over the Tigers last week in Hobart, and this week’s match is their shot at unseating NSW from the top spot.
Warriors Play Redbacks in Perth
The WA v SA match in Perth could also reshuffle the ladder. The Warriors are currently fourth, after beating the Tigers in Round 1 and losing to the Blues last week. The Redbacks lie fifth, following a loss to the Blues and a draw with the Bushrangers.
The Redbacks will be keen to reverse that standing with a six-pointer, while the Warriors will be equally determined not to go down at home.
