Record Winter Paralympics Ticket Sales

March 16, 2018 by

The Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Paralympic Games is already breaking records, with the number of ticket sales exceeding expectations. A record breaking 320,000+ tickets have already been sold, and this number is set to rise as the games wrap up.

A massive influx of overseas visitors has also been reported and support for the Paralympic teams has been overwhelming.

Beating the Sochi Sales

The 2018 Winter Paralympic Games has already far surpassed ticket sales made in Sochi in 2014, and the opening ceremony also attracted a record number of attendees. Over 21,000 people flocked to the stadium to watch the opening ceremony and more than 100,000 people had purchased tickets for just the first 3 days events. A turnout rate of 75% was achieved and already 90% of all other tickets for the remaining events have been sold.

A Sharper Focus on Paralympians

It seems like support for Paralympic competitors is growing in droves, and with events like The Invictus Games also highlighting these athletes’ incredible abilities, the Paralympic Games is growing in popularity.

Pyeongchang is hosting the 12th edition of the Winter Paralympics and it is now firmly established as an event that can equal that of the Olympic Games in terms of both participation and spectator numbers.

Ticket sales have doubled since the 2006 games in Torino and exceed the 230,000 that were sold in Vancouver in 2010. In the years to come it looks like this event will continue to grow, which for both those taking part and their families is the ultimate coup.
